July 10, 2015 | FDA plans to recognize "complementary diagnostics" as an additional category of tests to companion diagnostics. Complementary are tests that inform how a drug might be used, but are not essential for safety. Complementary diagnostics will be included with companion diagnostics in the framework to regulate laboratory-developed tests.
