December 10, 2015 | The deadline has been extended for entry into the 2nd Annual Swimming with the Sharks competition to be held at CHI’s Molecular Medicine Triconference in San Francisco in March. Companies now have until December 31 to submit their entries.
The Swimming with the Sharks competition is a live presentation held at MMTC. From the entries, twelve semifinalists are chosen to pitch their company's clinical value proposition to our expert panel in front of a large targeted audience on the morning of March 9, 2016. That afternoon, five finalists will give ten-minute pitches. Two winners will receive global recognition as the "2016 Tri-Con Most Promising Company", along with detailed feedback including company analysis, feedback and strategy suggestions.
For the 2015 winner, Fluoresentric, the entire experience has been very valuable, William Olson, CEO, told Diagnostics World.
“The first thing I saw was that every one of the judges who are filthy rich venture capitalists in the PCR industry came to me with their business cards in hand and were interested in doing business with us,” Olson said. “We’ve since followed through on a couple of those cases, and one of their investment firms is interested in placement on the first round of financing.”
The experience was also a lot fun, he said. When asked for advice for the 2016 contenders, Olson distilled his message to one word: “Practice!”
