Digital Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing: A More Efficient Way To Test Antibiotic Resistance
During the Molecular Medicine Tri Conference, Diagnostics World announced the winner of its first Diagnostics World Early Innovator Awards program. The winner, Travis Schlappi from the California Institute of Technology, tackled the issue of phenotypically determining antibiotic susceptibility within the time frame of a doctor's visit. His solution, a method called “digital antibiotic susceptibility testing” (dAST), would assist doctors in determining antibiotic resistance profiles before prescribing an antibiotic. Read more
